Movement Chaplain (noun)

A spiritual companion who tends to the soul of the work. One who creates spaces of safety, presence, and belonging so people can pause, breathe, remember who they are, and return to the work that calls them.

A movement chaplain believes that healing and justice belong together—that the soul longs to be liberated from the conditions that diminish life and disconnect us from ourselves, one another, and our communities. Through mindful presence, spiritual care, and collective practices of renewal, a movement chaplain helps people sustain the long work of caring, leading, organizing, and loving without losing ourselves in the process.

Ways we can begin the work and accompany you in the journey

ACT Therapy

You don't have to wait until life feels perfectly manageable to start living in a way that feels meaningful. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) helps you build psychological flexibility—the ability to make room for difficult thoughts and emotions while staying connected to your values and the life you want to create.

Together, we'll work on noticing patterns that may be keeping you stuck, making space for difficult feelings, and taking meaningful action without requiring everything to feel resolved first.

For people who are tired of overthinking, overfunctioning, or putting themselves last—and are ready to live with more intention.

Services may include:

  • Values clarification and values-based goal setting

  • Managing difficult thoughts and emotions

  • Mindfulness and present-moment awareness

  • Identifying patterns of avoidance and overfunctioning

  • Building psychological flexibility

  • Self-compassion and acceptance practices

  • Setting boundaries and taking values-aligned action

  • Navigating life transitions, relationships, and identity development

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)

Sometimes your mind and body just need permission to slow down. MBSR is an evidence-based approach that uses mindfulness practices to help you relate differently to stress, difficult emotions, and the demands of everyday life.

Together, we'll develop practical mindfulness skills that can support greater awareness, emotional regulation, and resilience—without adding another thing to your already-full plate.

For people who spend a lot of time caring, doing, thinking, and holding it all together.

Services may include:

  • Guided mindfulness meditation

  • Body scans and mindful movement

  • Breath awareness and grounding practices

  • Developing a sustainable mindfulness practice

  • Recognizing and responding to stress patterns

  • Mindful approaches to difficult emotions

  • Self-compassion and intentional rest

  • Applying mindfulness to relationships, work, caregiving, and everyday life

Spiritual Accompaniment

Sometimes you don't need another strategy—you need someone to walk alongside you. Movement Chaplaincy offers compassionate spiritual care for those carrying the weight of caring for others. Whether you're navigating burnout, grief, big questions, or simply longing for space to breathe, you'll find a welcoming place for prayer, reflection, honest conversation, and renewal.

Through spiritual companionship, we'll nurture the inner life that makes meaningful work sustainable.

For those who hold others, and need space to be held too.

Services may include:

  • Spiritual companionship and guided reflection

  • Prayer, meditation, and contemplative practices

  • Support through burnout, grief, and life transitions

  • Vocational and purpose discernment

  • Spiritual grounding for justice work and community care

  • Personal retreats and retreat planning

Consulting & Facilitation

Whether you're leading a nonprofit, church, or mission-driven organization, I partner with teams to create trauma-informed, values-aligned, and mindfulness-oriented approaches to leadership, care, and community. Together, we'll develop practical strategies that support both people and purpose.

Services may include:

  • Mindfulness and resilience training

  • Ministry wellness and burnout prevention

  • Retreats, workshops, book studies, and facilitated conversations

  • Special projects, including program design, curriculum development, strategic planning, community engagement initiatives, and other collaborative efforts that advance your mission

You were not just born to center your entire existence on work and labor. You were born to heal, to grow, to be of service to yourself and community, to practice, to experiment, to create, to have space, to dream, and to connect.
— Tricia Hershey, The Nap Bishop

Hi, I'm Brittany, Movement Chaplain and Founder of Just+Us Movement Chaplaincy. I believe that caring for ourselves and caring for our communities go hand in hand, and that rest isn't something we earn—it's sacred resistance.

For more than a decade, I've had the privilege of walking alongside people through seasons of change, grief, healing, and hope. My work has taken me into hospitals, faith communities, retreats, and community organizations, but the heart of it has always been the same: creating spaces where people feel seen, supported, and free to show up as their whole selves.

My work is rooted in healing justice—the understanding that healing is both personal and collective, and that our well-being is deeply connected to the well-being of our communities. I believe mindfulness helps us come home to ourselves, and spiritual care reminds us we don't have to carry everything alone.

I hold a Master of Social Work and am nearly finished with my Master of Arts in Theology and Ministry with a concentration in Social Transformation. My formation also includes Clinical Pastoral Education, community-based social work, healing justice practice, faith-based organizing, and leadership in trauma-informed, justice-oriented programming. Together, these experiences have shaped how I design retreats, facilitate workshops, accompany individuals, and partner with organizations to cultivate cultures of care. I'm especially passionate about reimagining what care can look like—creating thoughtful experiences, programs, and practices that help people, communities, and ministries flourish.

Whether we're sharing a quiet moment of reflection, gathering for a retreat, designing a workshop, developing a new initiative, or reimagining how a team cares for its people, my hope is always the same: to help create spaces where people can breathe a little deeper, reconnect with what matters most, and continue showing up for themselves and their communities with compassion and intention.

When I'm not working, you'll probably find me exploring a local book and tea shop, spending time with my husband and baby daughter, Joy, or dreaming up new ways to weave together mindfulness, spirituality, and healing justice.

I'm so glad you're here. I hope this can be a place where you find a little more rest, clarity, and encouragement for the journey ahead.
